Project Manager
Job Description
The Project Manager role is one of the most challenging positions at Brave River Solutions. Project Managers/Business Analysts oversee a variety of Technical Projects for our mid-market manufacturing and distribution clients. Projects range from business systems and eCommerce development to software implementations and business process reviews, to ongoing IT support.
Under general supervision, the PM will oversee various system projects. They are responsible for assembling the project team (usually 2 - 3 person teams), assigning individual responsibilities, and developing and managing the schedule to ensure an on-time under-budget completion of project. It is a key role in managing the process of solving complex business problems. These individuals must be able to translate project objectives to an actionable project plan, define the role and function of each team member, and actively participate in some part of the project. Thorough understanding of the software development life cycle and/or experience with software implementation is required. The PM will communicate with the BRS Project Director and client Project Manager regarding status of projects relative to changes in scope, timeline and budget. Individuals must have a strong understanding of team and client dynamics coupled with an ability to leverage skills to plan for detailed e-Business implementations. Key attributes of this position are project vision, business and technical strategy, and team leadership.
Key Responsibilities
- Work closely with client to define and manage the project and the ongoing client relationship
- Gather business requirements
- Formalize resource needs from client
- Create and monitor project plans (budget and resources)
- Create and monitor test plans
- Develop a relationship with clients and assist in future business development
- Conduct weekly status meetings
- Perform business analyst tasks by creating requirements documents and use cases.
The successful candidate will have at least 5 years experience in overseeing projects in one or more of the following area:
- For Systems Development / eCommerce Development Projects
- Define/refine system requirements and assist in estimating the project
- Oversee or participate in detailed system and graphics design
- Responsible for quality of all deliverables
- Utilize Sr. Developers to ensure technical standards are being met.
- Participate in development and/or in system testing
- For Implementation Projects:
- Organize project to achieve business objectives.
- Assist with system testing and business process redesign
- Develop a project plan
- Oversee client/Brave River and other resources
- Responsible for quality of solutions and readiness for go live
- Ensure all technical and non-technical tasks are being completed.
- Data conversion
- Programming
- Training
- Physical preparation (i.e. HW infrastructure, warehouse labeling, etc...)
- For Ongoing Client Support Projects
- Understand client's business and recommend initiatives
- Conduct periodic status meetings
- Assist client in maintaining good IT standards and practices
- Conduct research and assist with IT related buying decisions
- Assist with process evaluations
- Act as a part of the client IT team.
Additional Job Requirements
- Project Managers should have a Bachelor's degree; possess strong analytical and conceptual skills
- Excellent interpersonal skills and capable of collaborating with executive clients, external and internal teams
- Capable of working in a high-energy, unstructured teaming environment
- Experience in vertical industry is a plus; understanding of trends in e-Business and e-Commerce
- 1-2 years experience in supervising teams in multidisciplinary environment
- Excellent written, verbal and presentation skills
- Understanding of web technologies and how to translate business needs to client value
- Proven leadership skills in a multidisciplinary team environment
- Strong design to create, innovate, teach and lead
